Helen,

<br>
Sorry for the response delay, and also super sorry to hear that
upstage did not go through, indeed NGI0 is super technical but
upstage should certainly qualify. If you want you can PM me the
application you made and we can review this together.

Did CCT supported you on this?

If other people are interested we could schedule a moment to
present the fund.

hi natacha,
<br>
<br>
thanks for sharing this. i also recently applied to NLnet for a
grant for UpStage, in collaboration with mur.at & artists in
graz. we didn't get it, but we did get some helpful feedback
& i also came to understand that they are most interested in
funding very technical stuff. our application was based around a
technical need but it was not such an essential thing and there
was also a large artistic / training component which they were
not interested in funding.
<br>
<br>
i don't know if we will apply again to NLNet - it was good in
that the application process was not too onerous, & there
was good communication & feedback, but UpStage is
fundamentally an arts project, even if we are making the
technology for it, & i'm not sure how we could meet the
criteria.
<br>
<br>
if there is a meeting about this i will try to join (if the time
difference works as i'm still in nz).

I unfortunately had not followed the list for a while, end as
I open the folder to see where people are at in systerserver I
see this rejection e-mail.
<br>
<br>
As some of you might know petites singularités is part of the
NGI0 consortium as we do mentoring. In the previous 4 years it
was only hellekin working but since january I have decided to
join also (mainly because there are other feminist structures
that have entered and I hoped it would make a change.)
<br>
<br>
This does not mean we have any impact on which projects are
decided for, quite the contrary Nlnet handles the consortium
in an autocratic way and it is very difficult to act upon
anything, or even get to have any information (we only see the
accepted applications).
<br>
<br>
But still we are struggling us and a handful of other
partners.
<br>
<br>
In all cases as mentors it is our role to support people in
the process of writing their application and in the past 4
years we have supported a number of projects into successful
granting. So please if people from this community want to
apply to NGI0 funding do ping me and we can have a chat and
give counsels about how the grant demand should be presented.
<br>
As a bottom line, only super technical projects are accepted,
we are advocating that they consider funding projects that
would be more community geared but it is like shouting in the
void. So I will use this case (as much as other rejection
cases) to make my point again .... and... again.
<br>
<br>
If people want to know more about those issues and the
functioning of the NGI0 grant, I would be happy to join a
meeting one of those days and talk about it.

Warm regards

we have identified the projects we will be further
investigating for the latest NREN open call. I'm sorry to
have to inform you that your project "Feminist sysadmin
handbook" (2023-02-003) unfortunately was not among those
selected.
<br>
<br>
This in no way means that we do not see the value of the
work you proposed. We get many more excellent proposals than
we can grant with our limited means, so competition is
extremely tough. There are unfortunately many talented
independent researchers, developers and community leaders
that need funding. In addition to that, the specific scope
and rules of play of each call pose (sometimes artificial)
limits in our selection that mean excellent projects leave
empty-handed - because they just do not fit well enough
within a certain fund.
<br>
<br>
Again, we are very sorry that we cannot offer you support
for your good efforts. We hope you are not discouraged, and
are able to secure funding elsewhere for the project, for
instance from any of these organisations:
<br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://NLnet.nl/foundation/network.html">https://NLnet.nl/foundation/network.html</a>
<br>
<br>
or through other calls from the Next Generation Internet:
<br>
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://www.ngi.eu/opencalls">https://www.ngi.eu/opencalls</a>
<br>
<br>
And do trust that we have your funding need and the outline
of your project in the back of our head from now on, and so
we might come back to you if an opportunity arises (unless
you asked us to destroy your contact details in the
application form, in which case we will do so).
<br>
<br>
If you should have any questions, please let us know. And in
case you have another good project in mind in the future, do
not hesitate to submit again!

Kind regards,

on behalf of NLnet foundation,
