Hey! The gathering in Costa Rica got converted into a conference on
infrastructure in Barcelona at the end of March. I still can't go but it
would be great if somebody here can make it.

After a lot of reflection and discussion with members of this group and
beyond, I would like to invite you to infracon2019 to be held in
Barcelona on March 25-29. We are organizing the event together with
Pangea and would like to invite all of you who are able and interested
to come - to register on https://equalit.ie/infracon19/ (password:
barcelona)

The event will be open to participants outside of the formalized
Infrastructure group and will have several thematic tracks. We are
looking for people to help us curate and lead these tracks. We hope to
have tracks in English and Spanish, with necessary translations provided. 

The final decision on location and dates came about after realizing that
we (eQualitie) did not leave enough time for infrastructure members to
self-organize an event in Latin America. My apologies for this  misstep.
I want to thank Sula Batsu and Colnodo for their kind offers to help us
organize the event locally. We also considered peoples' availability and
the need to fly less in these climate chaotic times. Hence an event
preceding the IFF in the same country, with favorable visa and language
conditions for Latin American participants looked like the most
appropriate option. I can vouch that eQualitie will be actively involved
in helping to fundraise for a future event in Latin America.

Happy new year to everyone and looking forward to building a conference
in Barcelona together with you!

Tras mucha reflexión y varias discusiones con los miembros de este grupo
y demás, me gustaría invitaros a la infracon2019, que se celebrará en
Barcelona del 25 al 29 de marzo. Organizamos el acontecimiento junto con
Pangea y nos gustaría invitar a quien pueda y tenga interés en venir a
registrarse en https://equalit.ie/infracon19/ (contraseña: barcelona).

La conferencia estará abierta a participantes fuera del grupo formal de
Infraestructuras y contará con varios grupos temáticos. Buscamos a gente
que nos ayude a coordinar y dirigir los grupos. Esperamos tener grupos
tanto en inglés como en español, con traducción cuando sea necesario.

La decisión final sobre la ubicación y fechas surgió tras caer en la
cuenta de que en eQualitie no habíamos dejado el tiempo suficiente para
que los miembros de infraestructura organizaran un acontecimiento en
América Latina. Pido disculpas por este tropiezo. Quiero agradecer a
Sula Batsu y a Colnodo sus generosas ofertas para ayudarnos a organizar
el acontecimiento localmente. También consideramos la disponibilidad de
la gente y la necesidad de volar menos en estos tiempos caóticos. Por
todo ello un acontecimiento que precediera al IFF en el mismo país, con
condiciones favorables de idiomas y visados para participantes de
América Latina nos pareció una opción adecuada. Puedo dar fe de que
eQualitie se involucrará activamente en ayudar a recaudar fondos para un
acontecimiento futuro en América Latina.

deseamos un feliz año nuevo!
