In the last meeting we discuss open collective and I committed to read
about the difference on fiscal hosts and to send information to the list.
There is information in this page about the difference of hosts:
https://docs.opencollective.com/help/fiscal-hosts/fiscal-hosts
There is not a specific difference between US and European fiscal host.
The difference is by fiscal host in general.
For the open collective fiscal host in Europe
(https://opencollective.com/europe and
https://docs.opencollective.com/oceurope/)
- fee is around 6%
- "We are only able to host EU-based projects and fund EU-based
activity, not overseas expenses." <-- this may mean they can not pay
digital ocean for example.
- "Your project's mission must fit with the Association's mission overall."
Their requirements are
Activities must align with our mission & impact areas ->> it may fit in
"Develop tools to improve civic participation within cities or
communities: Sponsor sponsors projects aimed at fostering civic
participation, democratic debate and rebuilding community ties and
strengths."
Activities must be charitable, to benefit and open to the public
Collective must have no separate legal existence/entity from OC Europe
Collective must have a *minimum*of two admins/team members. Admins must
use their real name.
