[Adminsysters] European Network bid and Syster Server

Hi everyone,

I used to be a lot more critical towards academic research on activism 
than I am these days. (More or less along the lines: Not all details of 
activist organizing need to be fully visible for those we organize 
against. Also: sometimes there's more research on a given topic than 
actual activism.)

I think feminist tech infrastructures are a maybe bit of a different 
kind of activism and it's nice that people use their time and resources 
to document, ask questions, think and publish so that it is a little 
more accessible for later generations.

But I'd like to suggest to have some criteria in facing research and the 
researchers. Maybe asking to answer some basic questions like:

What's the aim of the research? What do you want to find out? How did 
you get interested in the topic, and us?

What is your own role? How do you define your approach to this research?

Is the research purely academic or are other partners involved? Who and 
what is their interest?
(This can be both good or bad, e.g. it would be nice to know when there 
partners that are (h)activist, too, or parts of social movements of any 
kind. But could also be companies with a completely different interest.)

Who's funding the research?

Will the outcome of the research be published, and publicly accessible 
(without having to pay fees to access scientific publications)? Maybe 
ask for a publication with a CC license.

Will you let us know about the outcomes once the research is finished?

How open or closed is the research process? Is it possible to follow it 
online in any way, maybe even comment?

Do you plan to use your research to foster public debate? In which way? 
Will you feed it back into the communities of feminist tech infrastructure?
