based on documentation for Wakeup on lan (WOL)

the local test is positive - as ooooo's laptop could reach leverburns 
and power the BACKUP server ON - Archipel (Antwerp)  - the router [ 
192.168.2.1 ] and the laptop [ 192.168.2.3 ]are in the same physical 
network - hardware [SERVERROOM]

we realize that we have to find the route through our tunnel (tinc) to 
reach leverburns
we considered,

  * - ports, ( we tried to divine the port by looking in configuration
    files and doing netsat command, and have an hinge that service tinc
    is it on 20777 or 665 still doubting

  * - broadcast address of the virtual router

we speculate we need to set [ ïnternes ] network in SWITCH MODE ( not 
only router -- so they can send a message on a hardware layer to the 
ether port (enp7s4, the network interface of leverburns [LAYER ?]

  * switch
    In this mode the MAC addresses of the packets on the VPN will be
    used to dynamically create a routing table just like an Ethernet
    switch does. Unicast, multicast and broadcast packets of every
    protocol that runs over Ethernet are supported in this mode at the
    cost of frequent broadcast ARP requests and routing table updates. 
    This mode is primarily useful if you want to bridge Ethernet segments.

  * hub
    This mode is almost the same as the switch mode, but instead every
    packet will be broadcast to the other daemons while no routing table
    is managed.

In our initial setup we  opted for hub but for WOL we need switch mode.
