Hi all,

I'd like to pick up the idea for applying for funding for a new server
again. I'll schedule an IRC meeting for Monday evening.

Dear Donna,

now I finally find time to get back to you regarding your new server.

We recently bought parts for an upgrade of our backup server, and some
of that stuff might be useful for you too.

We bought this board

   https://www.mylemon.at/artikel/supermicro/mbd_x10srl_f_o/x10srl-f-o.html

and added a Xeon E5-2623V4 CPU + 32GB RAM. This should fit into a
casing like

   https://www.mylemon.at/artikel/fantec/2064/tcg-2830kx03-1-2he-528mm.html

plus maybe two or three large disks that you could tie into a RAID1
(that's what we usually do).

You could also go for NVMe SSDs. That would speed up I/O by a factor
of 100 I guess ;)

Depending on where you buy, which exact CPU and how much RAM you should
be able to get everything between €1500 and €2000 (VAT included).

That might very well be the case.

I hope I could send you some useful information :) Regarding buying we
could do that for you and bill you. This way we could arrange delivery
to mur.at. As for assembly that would be a great opportunity to visit
Graz :) But maybe we can make some time and do that for you, make a
basic setup and you continue from there. Let's think about that :)

Hug,
